9/21/07: PECO appoints Operations Director
PORTLAND, Oregon—September 21 , 2007—PECO, Inc. announced today that it has appointed Production Manager Bob Cowgill to the position of Director of Operations, where he will be responsible for global production activities.

In his previous role as Production Manager, Cowgill was responsible for leading plastic injection molding operations, manufacturing operations for the Aerospace Products and Automation and Controls business units, the company’s painting and coating operations, and Manufacturing Engineering. 

PECO President and CEO Scott Smith said:

“Bob’s team has done an outstanding job in improving productivity while reducing costs, cycle times, and scrap rates.  I am confident he will be successful in his new role at PECO.”

Cowgill’s background includes five years as Vice President of Operations at Koon-Hall-Adrian Metallurgical, a local, nationally recognized supplier of materials testing services for the aerospace, nuclear, commercial and medical manufacturing industries.  Prior to this, he was Director of Operations at PML Microbiologicals, in Tualatin, Ore., and Production Area Manager at Precision Castparts Corporation in Portland.

He has worked at PECO for seven years.  Cowgill has an MBA from the University of Oregon and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University.

8/31/07: PECO appoints Finance Director
PORTLAND, Oregon—August 31, 2007—PECO, Inc. announced today that it has appointed Merrick Smith to the position of Director of Finance.   

Prior to joining PECO, Smith spent a decade as Chief Financial Officer at MTI, a local Portland company involved in point-of-display and point-of-purchase advertising and display solutions, where he oversaw the accounting, IT, legal and human resources departments.  His responsibilities at PECO will also include oversight of the accounting, IT and legal departments.

On joining PECO, Smith said:

“I was ready for a new opportunity, and it seems like I can add value at PECO.”

Smith’s background includes five years at Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (ESI), a local publicly traded company in semiconductor equipment manufacturing, and six years at Hughes Aircraft in Southern California.

Smith and his wife, Michelle, also own the Piccolo Mondo specialty toy store in the Bethany Village neighborhood in northwest Portland.

2/1/07: PECO appoints National Sales Manager
PORTLAND, Oregon—February 1, 2007–PECO, Inc. announced today that they have appointed Andy Schueler to the position of National Sales Manager for Aerospace and Precision Manufacturing.

Andy’s extensive experience includes sales and sales management roles with AMETEK Aerospace and Defense, TRW Information Systems, and McGraw-Hill. Mr. Schueler earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University. His responsibilities include key account management, sales management and business development for both the Aerospace and Precision Manufacturing Business Segments at PECO.

“Andy’s strong background in the aerospace industry, particularly in the after markets, is an ideal fit for this role.   He will be a critical component in our drive to diversify these important segments of our business,” stated Patrick Finney, Director of Sales and Marketing.

Mr. Schueler will be located in Seattle, Washington to optimize his proximity to key aerospace firms.

12/1/06: PECO appoints National Sales Manager
PORTLAND, Oregon—December 1, 2006–PECO, Inc. announced today that they have appointed Bill Whitehead to the position of National Sales Manager for Automation and Controls.

Bill brings significant HVAC industry experience to PECO having previously managed sales teams at both King Electrical and Cadet Manufacturing, in addition to marketing and operations management roles at a variety of other firms.

Mr. Whitehead earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University and an MBA from the University of Portland. His responsibilities include sales management and business development.

10/10/06: PECO selected to present at PaperWeek
PORTLAND, Ore., 10 October 2006 – PECO Analytical Instrumentation was selected today to present its paper, the PECO PL511 Pulp Analyzer, at the 93rd Annual Meeting of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC). 

The presentation is part of Paper Week’s New Technology Session, which is sponsored by the PAPTAC Sustaining Members Group.  PECO will be represented by Kris Bahten, Business Unit Manager for Analytical Instrumentation, the author and the presenter.

“We are excited to have this opportunity to present the Pulse Dispersion™ microwave technology that makes this product possible,” said Bahten.  “The PECO PL511 Pulp Analyzer offers pulp and paper mills worldwide an enormous cost savings when compared to their current processes.”

5/1/06: PECO appoints Director of Finance
PORTLAND, Oregon—July 28, 2006–PECO, Inc. announced today that they have appointed Leslie Kramer to the position of Director of Finance.

Leslie previously held finance, IT, and strategic planning roles at Ann Sacks (Kohler) and Bunge North America.

Ms. Kramer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the California State University at Stanislaus. She will manage finance, accounting, information technology, and risk management activities for the company.

5/1/06: PECO appoints National Sales Manager
PORTLAND, Oregon-May 1, 2006-PECO, Inc. announced today that they have appointed Fred Hinesley to the position of National Sales Manager for Analytical Instrumentation.

Fred previously held sales and applications engineering roles at Seaport Controls, Tyco Thermal Controls, and Inficon.

Mr. Hinesley holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington. He will manage sales and business development activities for the company’s new line of analytical instrumentation based on microwave technology.

3/31/06: PECO acquires Omnex
PORTLAND, Oregon-March 31, 2006-PECO, Inc. announced today that they have acquired Omnex Control Systems, Inc. of Vancouver, BC, Canada, forming a wholly-owned subsidiary named Omnex Control Systems ULC.

Omnex is a leading supplier of remote control and wireless I/O solutions utilizing frequency hopping spread spectrum technology. This technology is noted for excellent immunity to interference and a high level of transmission security.

Applications for Omnex products fit into two diverse groups. Since their founding in 1986, the company has offered a range of solutions for remote control of industrial machinery, construction apparatus, and mobile machines. A second group of products is utilized for wireless installations of process monitoring equipment in industrial environments.

“The acquisition of Omnex represents a significant diversification of PECO product offerings and customer base, as well as important growth into global markets,” stated Scott Smith, President of PECO.
Smith added, “We are also excited about the possibilities of incorporating Omnex wireless technology into our Automation and Controls product line.”

The Omnex brand will be retained, although electronic and print materials will reflect that they are a PECO company. There are no plans to consolidate locations.

3/28/06: PECO appoints National Sales Manager
PORTLAND, Oregon-March 31, 2006-PECO, Inc. announced today that they have appointed Becky Calvert to the position of National Sales Manager.

Becky comes to PECO with extensive sales and sales management experience including roles at General Electric, Encompass, and Johnson Controls.

Ms. Calvert holds Bachelor of Science degree from Lewis and Clark College and an MBA from Marylhurst University. She will be responsible for managing sales and business development activities for the company’s aerospace, automation & controls, and precision manufacturing business segments.

3/8/06: PECO wins major award
PORTLAND, Oregon-March 8, 2006-PECO, Inc. announced today that they have been honored by The Boeing Corporation as a 2005 Supplier of the Year in the Interiors category.

PECO has had a long relationship with Boeing, first producing Passenger Service Units for the 707 jetliner in 1966. (Passenger Service Units contain the reading lights, air nozzles, emergency oxygen and call buttons above passenger seats and similar assemblies in lavatories and attendant rest areas.) PECO also produces fuel access doors and other components for Boeing aircraft.

"Our employees are excited and honored to receive this recognition from a key customer such as Boeing. We work hard to be a high quality, responsive supplier for them", stated Scott Smith, President.

Norma Clayton, Vice President of Supplier Management and Procurement for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems and emcee of the 2005 event, discussed the key reasons for the award.

“Their performance is impressive, considering that they deliver tens of thousands of parts to our company every month,” Clayton said. “They also have met all of our cost targets, continuously explore and propose cost-saving ideas, and collaborate with us on process improvements.”

12/9/05: PECO Europe opens
PORTLAND, Oregon-December 9, 2005-PECO, Inc. announced today the opening of their first facility in Europe.

PECO Europe, based in Birmingham, United Kingdom, is the first foreign venture in the firm's history and will serve customers across the continent, in the Middle East, and in Africa.
